Gerrit's First License

Willem digs the noisy toys on the walker, but Niki seems dubiousWillem's first trip to Ikea documented :)

Well, as it's been nearly a month since my last post I thought it was time. Willem is now 6 months old today, and we have recently started solids. I toyed with rice cereal and oatmeal last month and he's recently tried sweet potatoes, carrots, and pears. I've even made some homemade baby food, but it seems doubtful that I'll actually continue that trend. Here is a video of Willem's first super runny cereal feeding.

We enjoyed ourselves at the Neue Pinatothek (art museum) in Munich while Jerry & Ellen watched after our kids. It was almost like a "real date." :)

Gerrit had Jerry "fly" him about ten times while we were there

We also managed to finally take care of our driver's licenses here. It was a bit confusing, but after two days of back and forth between the German equivalent of DMV bureaucracy, we accomplished our goal. (We received conflicting information from two different employees about what we needed to have in order to convert our licenses.) To celebrate we went out to dinner at our local Greek restaurant here in the Marktplatz in town. The food was fantastic, but the service was extremely slow. Guess we're used to that from trips to Lucky Baldwin's back in the States. :) I will definitely miss the small town feel of Neufahrn when we leave. I enjoy being able to walk into the Marktplatz and do the shopping or go to the library, park, or even window shop. It would be nice to find something like that back in the States. I also enjoy being able to take public transportation without fearing for my safety, but that may be even harder to come by in the U.S.
Waiting to get our licenses converted.

"Look Ma... no hands!"
Can you see any family resemblance?

Enjoyed another visit to the Flugzeug Museum in Obserschleissheim. This time we decided to dress accordingly... in tacky flying shirts. Yes, we're dorks, we know. Still, Gerrit LOVED that he and mommy were wearing the same shirt. Gerrit flew his own small airplane and received a junior pilot's license for doing so... oh yeah, and a gummy bear, too. :) That day, they were also hosting a model train event so Gerrit was in absolute heaven.

A fun day, but a tired family :)
