The Big Pregnancy Reveal

My sister-in-law and I had been keeping our pregnancies secret from our husbands' family so that we could reveal it together when we saw them at our big family reunion in July.

The big "pregnancy reveal" went well. We told them by making a belated Father's Day card for my father-in-law (since both my sister-in-law and I neglected to actually send anything out to him for Father's Day). We scanned a page from the book "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" by Dr. Seuss to use as our card. The page is the one where it shows the creature with 11 fingers. Currently, my in-laws have 9 grandchildren. But with my sister-in-law and I both pregnant, it will soon be 11. Once we scanned the page, we added the names of each grandchild above each finger and left the last two with question marks for names and the tentative due dates listed. Then we changed the text a bit.

The original text goes like this-

Say! Look at his fingers! One, two, three... How many fingers do I see? One, two, three, four, five six, seven, eight nine, ten. He has eleven! Eleven! This is something new. I wish I had eleven, too!

We changed the words "I" and "fingers" to "you" and "grandchildren." Then at the end instead of "I wish I had..." we wrote, "This is something new. Soon you will have eleven too!"

Yes, we thought we were very clever. Our in-laws thought it was a cute normal card that maybe one of the grandchildren had made until they read it closer. Then, they thought that one of us was having twins and they weren't sure which one was pregnant. That's when we revealed our bellies to show them that we were both OBVIOUSLY pregnant at this point. Funny that they didn't catch that it couldn't possibly have been twins with different due dates, but oh well. They were very surprised, but they also seemed quite excited.
